Can Shading Prior to Speed Painting Make Batch Painting Fun Again?

I painted the Orc Flayers from Massive Darkness using speed paints on top of a wash or shade or tone (whichever term you use).
I primed these miniatures with Army Painter Brainmatter Beige and then slapped on some Soft, Light, Dark and Strong Tones and a Mid Brown Wash to see what effect they have on speed paints that applied after the wash!
