Can Video Games Make You Happy? The Importance of Flow
"Flow" is the psychological concept met by being totally absorbed in and focused on an activity perceived as challenging, but also deriving joy from it. It may be one of the reasons why people enjoy the activity of gaming so much, as the state can certainly be achieved through it. The concept was recently explained by cyber-psychologist Berni Goode in Charlie Brooker's How Videogames Changed the World, in which she explained the importance of the state, as well as how it is often reached in gaming. Have video games indeed changed the world for the better? Kim Horcher and Tim Frisch discuss.
**Note: this originally aired LIVE during the 24-hour Turkathon of December, 2013. Originally, the segment was to be pulled from video publishing due to minor audio issues in the middle, but I thought the topic was too interesting to let go. I hope you think so too! - Kim**
"How Video Games Changed The World" is not available in a legal form online. However, this article on the topic from Gama Sutra is recommended: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/166972/
