Can You Beat Saints Row: The Third Without Buying Any Upgrades?
0Playa didn't feel like buying any upgrades via the in-game phone menu for his next visit to Steelport, so he took on STAG and the Syndicate as a means of asserting his dominance instead.
This run was completed by myself without purchasing any upgrades via the in-game phone menu. I did not initially have the avoidance of weapon upgrades in mind here, though none were purchased anyway at any point during this run. Upgrades that made the player character more powerful, especially those end-game ones that made you nearly invincible, were the main driving focus of avoidance here.
Upgrades that are granted to the player as mission or activity completion rewards do not invalidate this run by any means as these were not purchased by the player. In addition to this, these did not appear to have any effect on the gameplay during this run.
Some of the gameplay and audio was choppy in the original recording. I've taken extra care to trim most of these bits out; there may be some imperfections in this video as a result of this, though none that are too noticeable.
I also completed this entire run, from start to finish, in a single sitting (in just under 12 hours, to be exact). Ran on vanilla Saints Row: The Third without any modifications or DLC content.
