I'm looking to try to get a replacement game recorder. PlayClaw 5 was good until about eight months after it was released, and I've finally given up trying to get it to work with any integrity.
If the game crashes or is closed during recording, the entire video file is useless, even if you press the "Stop Recording" button. Yes, PlayClaw 5 continues recording after the program stops operating. This might look like a failsafe, but it's not.
Neither program recorded at exactly the frame rate I requested), but PlayClaw 5 really isn't good anymore. It suffers from CHRONIC desynch between video and audio streams, and the way it composes the video stream in general is very hacked-together. It's quite economic and has a low processor footprint, but it isn't worth the money anymore.

Even as the two recordings couldn't reconcile at times (PlayClaw 5 was consistently at fault), it was astounding and sorry.

PlayClaw5 does what I need it to (Shadowplay can't record more than one audio output device simultaneously, much to the chagrin of at least 12,000 people and the continued ignorance of NVidia), but it doesn't do it WELL. PlayClaw would be perfect if it did the things it does with a modicum of stability. But it doesn't. And with a patient afternoon of tweaking VAC Banana, Shadowplay could be quite a serviceable replacement.
