Ridge Racer Unbounded is one racing game that really gets on my nerves. If there's one way to describe to someone what "arcadey" car handling means, as opposed to simulation, you make them play any Ridge Racer game. That doesn't mean the game is not fun, but the controls are frustrating to the point of rage-quitting. As you can tell, I'm playing the PC version of this game, which is a straight-up console port, but a fairly good one. The graphics are crisp, although no serious customization options, car crashes practically sell the game, and the music is... well, depends on taste.
About the gameplay, I tackled on a straight domination race, then an amazingly satisfying frag attack mode with the Behemoth truck, and lastly, another domination race, this time on a community created track, which I found to be surprisingly better than the few default campaign tracks, proving once more that some gamers are better level designers than the ones getting paid for it.
In the end, I would like to point out the awesome race creator, but also the outright dumb AI, who's either too good at straight paths, or too stupid if you place a small barier in the middle of the road.
