CARGO COMMANDER (this video is DAY 2)
I’ve been looking through my Steam library and noticed lots of games that I’d either got for free or where on a special offer at the time. For some reason, I’d never actually bothered to install most. Perhaps I just forgot about them or maybe I’m just crazy? Whatever the excuse I did install Cargo Commander for a play today.
This isn’t the type of game I would normally play if I’m honest but perhaps it should be? I’m certainly no Cargo Commander expert as I write this text - I’ve only had a quick initial play before recording my videos. However, I did enjoy this adventure set in space so much that I just had to share!
At its heart, it appears to be a case of explore, collect and kill everything type of game, which is great by me. Basically, you’re a salvage worker on a space station and it’s your job to sift through massive cargo containers looking for the usual hidden treasures to increase your fortune…and then return home to the wife! It’s all played through a beautiful 3D / platform environment with some cool rogue-like elements and lots more gorgeous graphics - and I sure love the musics!
Long story cut short - once you’ve activated the station’s powerful magnet to attract nearby containers they will then be available for you to explore. Plunder your little heart out but do watch for the bad guys! I don’t want you worrying too much as thankfully you’re equipped with super cool industrial weapons. Which are great fun!!
I’ve recorded three videos for this game - the first is a replay of my first day on the job which is a nice tutorial that gives you a basic run down of what to do and how to play. Then I recorded the following two days where I desperately try to look like I know what I’m doing.. (my apologies for the last few seconds of day 3 as I was called away from the computer by the boss!! Typical…!)
Cargo Commander is one of those games you’ll need to learn so give it a few attempts before making your judgment. I did find the space hopping from containers could be pretty frustrating and the unknown time limits that you where given to explore where disappointing. But this is a great space romp with it’s hectic gameplay and all with a big gun too! I highly recommend you give this game a go.
