By 1983 the Apple II had increased competition. Even niche, graphically less intensive games from SSI were converted to the newer shinier machines. This usually meant only small changes to the overall asthetic of the games, but none of the advanced features of these new platforms were used.

That is to say, Carrier Force on the C64 is very similar to the Apple II version. It has the exact same text interface, the exact same tiny map and the exact same slow gameplay. Due to these similar qualities my opinion of the game is equally similar: wargames in these early days worked better when they simulated land conflicts than conflicts of the sea.
