Telengard - 1985 - IBM PC 5150 CGA 128K emulated in PCem V17
1Telengard was one of the ancient RPGs released on probably all platforms in the late 1970s and early 1985. As far as I know there were multiple versions released for DOS as well, this one is from 1985.
Despite the graphics being standard CGA, this does not reduce the enjoyment factor of the game: the drawings are clear, detailed and animated, the player can identify the different kind of monsters and objects in the game.
The game play is simple but enjoyable. There is very little in combat or inventory management, most of the difficulty comes from knowing when to retreat and when to risk going down a level.
My first few attempts playing the game fail early, but then I manage to do more exploration on the first level of the dungeon.
