Casey Powell Breaks All-Time Points record (again)
Going into the 2013 season, MLL veteran Casey Powell led the League in All-Time points with 399, four over his nearest competitor, Boston Cannons own Ryan Boyle. Boyle broke the Florida Launch's attackman record during the season and, while Powell came back for three games at the end of 2013, his six points were not enough to re-capture the lead. He did, however, help the Chesapeake Bayhawks win their fifth Steinfeld Trophy with stellar performances in both the semifinal and the Championship.
That would change come 2014. Entering this season 17 points behind Boyle, the Syracuse product proceeded to make an immediate impact on his new team, the Florida Launch.
Powell started the season with a six-point game in the season opener loss against Denver, followed by two five point games in the Launch's two victories and leaving him just three points behind Boyle going into Saturday night's matchup against his former team, the Bayhawks.
On Saturday night, in the Launch's 15-12 win over the Bayhawks, Powell returned to his rightful place as the All-Time points leader, thanks to a fantastic seven-point performance, and giving him a total of 428 points over 10 seasons.
With an average of 5.75 points per game, Powell is poised to also break the single-season points record which currently stands at 72.
