Castle Blast (Machine type: Atari 5200)
Castle Blast is a homebrew shoot ’em up game developed by Ronen Habot for the Atari 5200, first released in 2002. The game draws inspiration from the fifth level of the Atari 2600 game “Phoenix,” where players confront a mothership.
Development and Release:
Castle Blast marked Ronen Habot’s debut in Atari 5200 programming. He utilized this project to create a tutorial aimed at assisting others interested in developing games for the system. The game debuted at the 2002 Classic Gaming Expo, complete with a box, manual, and cartridge. After being out of print for several years, it was re-released with updated packaging and a newly designed manual.
