Castle Falkenstein in Minecraft (FTB)
This was an attempt to use Minecraft to recreate a castle from an old Unreal Tournament map called DM-Falkenstein.
This was an old favourite of mine that was created back in 08/01/2000 by a gifted map maker named Robert A. Wey, who in turn - based the map on a real 19th century Castle called Falkenstein which was originally drawn out by Christian Jank and was to be the fourth castle of (crazy) King Ludwig II of Bavaria, but never made it past the planning stage.
While a few changes needed to be made to make it playable in Minecraft (spiral staircases and thin walls don't work too well in a game that works using large blocks), it actually turned out pretty well and I was impressed with the overall result.
This was made in creative mode in Minecraft 1.52 using a modpack called Feed The Beast (FTB).... In fact most of the blocks I've used are from the Railcraft mod (by the talented CovertJaguar) which comes with FTB, but I've also added a vanilla Minecraft friendly version of this castle as a lone building that can be downloaded for use with the Millenaire mod and can be found via the link below:

Enjoy!!
