I got this game thinking it make for an easy 8 dollar joke video... was a genuinely fun RPG.

Anyways the general is surprisingly an optional first boss if you choose to surrender the fighting will stop and Hikaru will simply trick the guards into escaping.
Otherwise he's really just here to teach you the mechanics of waiting.
