Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Sega Saturn English Translation Showcase
30When Castlevania: Symphony of the Night came out, a port to the Sega Saturn came out sometime after, developed by a different team, which added all manner of bonus features and extra content.
However, this version was originally fully exclusive to Japan, and if you wanted to play the game, you had to deal with the inability to navigate menus easily.
No longer! Thanks to the hard work of Knight0fDragon, the Sega Saturn version of the game is now available to be fully played in English. Voice lines are kept in Japanese, as some new ones were added that were not in the original. This video shows off the fan translated game in action, and some of the differences in the Saturn version can be seen here.
This version of the game includes many notable additions, ranging from Quality-Of-Life additions such as a dedicated "Pocket" button that can be used for consumable items (thanks to the extra buttons on the Saturn controller), to entire new areas added to Dracula's Castle, the ability to easily play as the additional characters without needing to beat the game, and a unique fighting-game-like version of Maria that is entirely different from the one available in the PSP/PS4 Requiem version, along with a required fight with that version of Maria as well.
This translation patch also performs a few small fixes as well as some small optimizations for the Saturn hardware, such as changing the screen resolution of the status menu from 480i back to the 240p used in the original to be more compatible with displays and upscalers, and some slowdown reduction overall in some cases (though not all).
Give this version a try if you want a change of pace from your typical playthrough, and would like to find all sorts of new things!

Click the dropdown menu when saving the patched version to change the file format. I would personally recommend BIN/CUE if you wish to emulate.
