OH BOY WAS THIS TOWER A JOURNEY AND A FUCKING HALF
so its march 2024, and my friend and i decided to come up with some stupid challenge where id beat only ONE tower from each soul-crushing difficulty - eventually progressing to cata.
i already crushed thanos tower and kyoi tekina fairly easily, so i decided to ramp it up a bit and try out a couple terrifyings, but they kicked my ass.
at this point i was desperate to beat anything harder than extreme, scavenging through the top towers list in search of any towers that looked appealing, to no avail. at that point, the eternal abyss was about to release, so i was like "fuck it might as well wait” and tried out tortuous oblivion. i somehow almost instantly fell in love and religiously played it for shits and gigs. i eventually got to floor 5 and thought "wait, could i beat this tower?"
after that i started taking the grind way more seriously - repeatedly bashing my head against a wall trying to do runs, but i was having fun. after a break for other stuff, i got back into etoh and played toto some more, miraculously doing 8-winpad almost instantly. at that point, i realized that i really needed to finish this tower off, as i was dragging the grind out.
i then did 6-9 end, then 9, then 9 3 more times, and then fluking 10.
as for the tower itself, its my favourite of all time.
i genuinely cannot describe the connection i had with this tower, it felt magical. the design being all mechanical with all of the wires and machinery is so fucking sick. the music fits perfectly, the lighting changers were also used perfectly, and the gameplay is fucking phenomenal.
despite how hard the tower was, no fail ever felt like the towers fault. it felt so consistent that i dont even think this tower is worthy of being catastrophic difficulty.
overall - if you like strat-based jank gameplay - i IMPLORE you to try out this tower.
