Cavalcadence plays HoloCure 4: Super Couch Potato? (no moving/aiming/items, main-only) Sora vs. S1
HoloCure - Save the Fans! (PC(W)/itchio/Steam)
Version 0.7.1732393897 (2024/Dec/04)
Achievement: Couch Potato
Description: Clear a game of Stage Mode without moving at all.
Stage 1 - Grassy Plains
Tokino Sora
no moving, no aiming, no items, & main weapon only
So at a certain point during my Sora 4H runs, I was looking at the explosion splash radius for her Lv7 main weapon (to get a better sense of just how far away from a boss she could be and still damage it!), and noticed that the combination of 3 stars and splash damage actually covered quite a lot of the screen!
Anyway, at some point later, this came to mind again for some reason, and I started thinking... hmm, with the amount of screen her Lv7 main covers, it might be worth seeing how well Sora might do on the "Couch Potato" achievement (no moving + win).
So I set up a quick test on Stage 1, and... very quickly noticed that the level started out with Ankimo basically handling all of the enemies on his(?) own!
Which made me curious... if Sora didn't move at all (even to aim!), how long would Ankimo be able to keep Sora safe? I figured that eventually, the crowds would just get so dense that he wouldn't be able to keep up... right? ^^;
...
So... I started the test over, and, long story short... Ankimo and Sora kept the crowds at bay much longer than I thought they would! It actually wasn't until the 1900 phase that they started having a worrisome amount of trouble... and the combination of high-health enemies and crowd density finally became too much for Ankimo (and Sora) to handle. =p
But given the fact that they'd made it to the second-to-last phase without too much difficulty... I started thinking, yeah, maybe a "no moving + no aiming" run ("Super Couch Potato"?) was actually possible!
So I made some strategy adjustments (minor re-balancing of Stat upgrade priorities) based on that test run, and... a couple runs later, this run happened. =)
So here it is... my first ever "no moving + no aiming" win! Hope you enjoy!
Some notes and possible points of interest:
0:00 (Disclaimers)
0:02 (Photosensitivity Warning - flashing bright lights & fast-moving images)
0:08 HoloCure - Save the Fans! (version 0.7.1732393897)
0:13 No Stamps, Weapon Limit -5, Item Limit -6, G Rank Off
0:21 Tokino Sora, Stage 1
0:29 No Support/Food/Prism Item
0:31 0000 - Stage 1 begins!
Ankimo note: The Skill description for Ankimo says that Ankimo heads for "the targets closest to Sora". A slightly more accurate description is that, when choosing a new target, Ankimo heads for "the current location of the target closest to Sora" (i.e. Ankimo targets the location, rather than the enemy). The difference isn't too noticeable for slow enemies, but is definitely noticeable for faster ones! ^^
So if you ever notice Ankimo walking PAST the nearest enemy (instead of stopping on top of it), that's why. ^^
0:52 Max HP UP
HP is very important due to the enemy swarm at 1900!
My general priority order for Stats was: HP, ATK & CRT, Haste, Pickup (which is kind of at half-effectiveness, since Ankimo's already handling half the screen!), SPD (useless for a "no moving" run).
2:47 0200
5:01 0400
5:49 Bright Star LV 7 (MAX)
Once Sora's main is at max level, she can basically handle the right side of the screen on her own, which means Ankimo essentially only has to worry about the left side of the screen.
However, this also means that Ankimo generally won't be picking up EXP from the right side... so ideally, you don't want to max Sora's main TOO soon... but of course, spending Rerolls while Bright Star is Lv6 or below means a smaller chance of getting the Stat upgrades you want (one slot will be filled by Bright Star)!
So in this run I basically followed a "if HP/ATK/CRT/Haste is available, select one of those; if not, select Bright Star" rule of thumb to get her main to Lv7 without using any Rerolls. ^^
7:18 0600
9:34 0800
11:47 1000 (mid-boss)
13:53 1200
16:01 1400
18:17 1600
20:21 1800
20:40 Lv: 50
21:25 1900 (a LOT of high-health enemies)
This swarm is dense enough that Ankimo almost certainly won't be able to protect Sora for the entire minute, so be ready to use Sora's Special at some point!
22:03 Special: Idol Dream
Kept a close eye on Sora's health, and tried to delay using her Special as long as possible... both so that she can survive the 1900 swarm, and so that she has as much health as possible for the final boss!
22:29 2000 (final boss)
22:37 Lv: 53
23:18 2047 - Stage 1 ends!
My first ever "no moving, no aiming, no items, main-only" win! ^_^
Didn't need to use Sora's Special again, but I was definitely keeping an eye on Sora's health, just in case!
No achievement popup, since I'd already gotten Couch Potato a while back, via Amelia. ^_^
