In this let's play Caveblazers gameplay we see if adding more interesting combat and extra roguelike elements to the Spelunky formula results in more than the sum of its influences.
Caveblazers gameplay in the Steam Early access Alpha puts you in a randomly generated cave full of enemies and treasure, with the familiar bats, pots, spikes and chests from other platform games such as Spelunky. In Caveblazers gameplay, you start with both melee and ranged attacks, both of which can be upgraded and also include combos.
Roguelike elements in Caveblazers gameplay include magic equippable rings (with limited slots), coloured potions that you can only identify once having drunk it for the first time, Risk of Rain-style shrines with random results, Spelunky-style random level layouts and more.
In our let's play Caveblazers gameplay video we attempt to see how far we can get, trying out as many items as we can and fighting various enemies. We also encounter those AI "pseudo-multiplayer" players, who turns out to be somewhat fierce!
Future additions to Caveblazers gameplay include more items, new weapon types, custom characters, boss fights, new enemies and areas, plus an actual ending.

"Caveblazers is a pseudo-multiplayer platformer roguelike set in a fantasy world. Each game is unique with procedurally generated levels to explore, and a massive amount of items, weapons and equipment.
Caveblazers gameplay attempts to emulate a multiplayer experience by incorporating random encounters with other "players". These players are AI controlled characters which behave like other players and have randomized behavioral characteristics which will depict how they interact with other players. Some will follow and help you, some will run from you, and some will be aggressive towards you."
