Welcome to Captain Chang Plays (CCP) Cold Waters. We are playing the 1984 Soviet Campaign at reduced difficulty.

16-DEC-1984 Just north of Murmansk, USSR
We have just reloaded and we left the docks for our order, which was to go to Andoya and block it from any NATO submarines trying to drop off their commandos.
17-DEC-1984 Just west of Andoya, Norway
We intercepted a submarine contact.
When our sonar cannot pick up any further signals after a few minutes, I ordered an active search, and a contact pinged back... then there was a launch transient.
We, of course, immediately fired back with a TEST-71M. However, after we analyzed the sound of the torpedoes, they are using a really slow torpedo, which happens to be the Tigerfish, making the sub probably British, so it's either a Brit nuclear submarine, or the venerable Oberon.
And after a bit of dodging, the Oberon revealed itself. I went shallow and sent it a Vodopad, and that got it dodging left and right, and eventually the torpedo got her.
Then it's off to the free-roam mission again... Except I have uncovered additional intelligence. It seems that NATO sends an ultrafast cargo vessel, known as the Algol, and if you manage to sink one, you are indeed very good, or very lucky, as the Algol travels at a normal cruising speed of 30 kt. It doesn't slow down except to dock.
We approach the GIUK gap, and pass through with no problems, then were intercepted by an unknown contact. We later got pinged by a sub, but they avoided us. We disengaged.
