Today's CDP was requested as a cruel joke to me personally, but I feel like I still rose to the challenge to the best of my ability, and it combines two LIGHT/Machine archetypes to give Kaiba's new XYZ monsters another chance to shine. If you missed my first profile with a more straightforward approach, be sure to check it out here: • CDP: ABC XYZ Union, Kaiba's A-to-Z Cr...
Now that you're back, let's talk about what's new for the ABCXYZ Union theme. First up is Union Pilot, a new Level 5 Union monster that lets you equip a banished Union monster to another monster you control, before Special Summoning itself back to your field. This pairs nicely with the previously released Union Driver, while also just giving you another stable body to Link Summon or Fusion Summon with. The theme also received A-to-Z Energy Load, a Trap Card that gives you draws equal to the number of LIGHT Machine Fusion monsters you control. While this will rarely give you more than 1 or 2 draws, its GY effect can come in handy to recover banished LIGHT Machine monsters in a pinch. Finally, I've brought a new monster into the Main Deck to benefit from Union Activation - Beast King Barbaros, which can destroy the opponent's entire field when Tribute Summoned during the opponent's turn with the three Unions you Special Summoned!
As for the Cyber part of the deck, this is a bit of stretch so stick with me. Cyber Dragon Core is up first, as when summoned, it can add any Cyber S/T from the deck to the hand. While this includes Cyber Emergency to tutor any Cyber Dragon monster, it more importantly searches out Cyber Repair Plant, which serves as a way to get to a copy of X-Cross Cannon when you need it. You see, X-Cross Cannon is the only part of the ABCXYZ Union strategy that is not a Union monster, making it a bit more difficult to tutor. The Cyber style part of the deck also brings Cyber Pharos, a Level 1 LIGHT Machine that can Special Summon itself from the hand and Fusion Summon a Machine monster. While traditional Fusion Summoning isn't typically accessible to the ABCXYZ Union strategy, this allows you another part of your endboard making Eosvarog, Forger of the Dawn with any 2 LIGHT Machines. It also happens to negate a S/T card or effect each turn, pairing quite nicely with the targeted destruction and banish Quick Effects from your ABCXYZ Fusions! It may not be the cleanest hybrid out there, but it sure can be fun in the right doses, so hope you enjoyed today's deck!
