If you thought my last Ryu-Ge profile left out the Wyrms... well this should make up for it! My last take combined them in a more casual approach with the Bonding Water Dragon theme, so be sure to check that out first: • CDP: Bonding Water Dragon Ryu-Ge, ft.... . This time, I'm presenting a much stronger variant of the deck, as the Swordsoul archetype can stand quite strongly on its own. This Synchro-based strategy aims to summon Level 4 Tuner Tokens that can Synchro Summon with Level 4 and Level 6 Wyrms to unlock their bosses, including Swordsoul Sinister Sovereign - Qixing Longyuan and/or Swordsoul Grandmaster - Chixiao. Getting to their starters is very easy as well - Swordsoul of Mo Ye really is just an Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous away. Also, with the ability to search any Wyrm monster, this theme also effectively integrates Nemeses Protos as a great way to disrupt a singled-minded opponent.
So what does the Swordsoul archetype do better with the help of the Ryu-Ge? Well, it certainly helps to have even more Level 10 beatsticks and forms of interruption during the opponent's turn! With Ryu-Ge Ascension Crest of Transmigration, you can setup for a big Ryu-Ge summon while also tutoring whatever Wyrm you need for a Swordsoul play. If that isn't enough, Ryu-Ge Ascension Gate of Wyrmhaze even empowers your Swordsoul bosses to reduce the ATK of a monster to 0, making it even easier to OTK after Qixing Longyuan inflicts its burn damage. As for the last piece of the deck, I've turned to the Ice Barrier engine as Lancea, Ancestral Dragon of the Ice Mountain is another option you can Synchro Summon using Swordsoul Strategist Longyuan. With Medium of the Ice Barrier and General Raiho of the Ice Barrier able to plop out at a moment's notice, this deck can truly lock down a duel when it isn't dominating it!
