Welcome back for another CDP, this time taking on the new January F/L list with the Spellbook archetype. Enemy of the Dragon Rulers, the Spellbook theme features a bunch of Spell cards, Spellbook Magician of Prophecy, and unparalleled access to Jowgen the Spiritualist through the use of Spellbook of Judgment. This card has been on the F/L list for so long, I'm just super excited to see it back at 3 copies! Once you've activated Judgment, you get to start counting how many other Spellbooks you activate, up until the End Phase. During the End Phase, you can tutor Spellbook Spells equal to that count, then summon a Spellcaster monster from your deck of equal or lesser Level to the number of tutored cards. With Jowgen being a Level 3 Spellcaster, that's a very easy target to hit, especially with Spellbook of Secrets tutoring Spellbook of the Master, which tutors a third Spellbook card.
In tandem with the Spellcaster-heavy build today, I'm also employing another theme with many Spell Cards - the Sinful Spoils! This archetype pairs well with Diabellstar the Black Witch, as she is a Spellcaster that sets a Sinful Spoils when Summoned. One of the best options is Original Sinful Spoils - Snake-Eye, which can send a card you control to the GY to Special Summon any Level 1 FIRE from your deck. I'm personally a big fan of Megistric Maginician, a Spellcaster that racks up a Spell Counter each time a Spell is activated. During the End Phase, you can remove 3 counters to tutor a new copy of one of your banished Spells, which is quite easy with Spellbook of Fate banishing so many of them. Deploy the mystic arts of the Spellbooks, with the help of Diabellstar!
