Welcome back for another CDP, this time taking on the WATER pile with an Equipping twist. The Mermail archetype has always been symbiotic with the Atlantean theme, as the Mermail archetype contains quite a few monsters such as Mermail Abyssteus and Mermail Abyssmegalo that discard WATER monsters as cost, and the Atlantean monsters trigger when sent to the GY as a cost. For example, Atlantean Dragoons gets to tutor any Sea Serpemnt monster whenever it is sent to the GY as cost. While they are largely inseparable, the Mermail archetype does have a few tricks of its own, such as their in-theme Atlantean, so to speak, in Mermail Abyssgunde, which Special Summons another Mermail when discarded. It also has Mermail Abyssgaios, a fearsome R7NK Xyz Monster that carries a Quick Effect to negate the effects of your opponent's monsters with less ATK than it. Combine that with Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi to negate the first Spell effect activated by your opponent, and you have the start of some effective disruption. But all of that needs a starter, and that's where the Atlantean re-enter the story, as Neptabyss, the Atlantean Prince may just be the strongest level 1 monster ever created, able to tutor both an Atlantean and any Sea Serpent with its first effect.

Now you may be wondering, what's the twist here? And that would be the Mikanko archetype. While the Mikanko center around Equip Spells, this theme adds a bunch of consistency, disruption, and even more OTK combo power to the already powerful Mermail/Atlantean strategy. For example, you can use Mikanko Water Arabesque to remove an opponent's threat prior to going for a big Mermail play, and you also can get a Hu-Li the Jewel Mikanko and a copy of Mikanko Spiritwalk to disrupt the opponent on the next turn. If you're already locked into WATER monsters, such as due to the effect of Marincess Corale Anenome, simply summon Ni-Ni the Mirror Mikanko instead, giving you the ability to steal an opponent's monster. If you don't have Arabesque, Ohime the Manifested Mikanko can tutor it, but Ohime also carries the distinction of being able to discard, letting you trigger Mermail Abyssgunde or even a copy of Nimble Angler to spam even more monsters to your field. Ultimately, this strategy exists to push your opponent to the brink, so sink them into your WATERy depths with the union of these four themes!
