Poor Donkey Kong. He’s just sitting in his tree house, celebrating his birthday with family and friends, when an entire army of evil penguins decides to invade his island. Nice timing, huh? Obviously, Donkey Kong isn’t happy about this, which sets the stage for another fantastic platformer. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze picks up where 2010’s Donkey Kong Country Returns left off, resurrecting the Donkey Kong franchise and keeping it at the top of the platforming mountain. Developed by the talented team at Retro Studios, this is a gorgeous 2D platformer with great music, great gameplay and even better level design. It has all the things you would expect from the series, but it also puts its own creative stamp on them. See the mine carts for an example. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze offers single-player and local multiplayer play.
