SHMUPs seem strange and abstract even by today's standards. But setting one in the context of World War II makes it even stranger. But that's fine, if the gameplay's great! 1941 stumbles in a couple spots, mostly involving controls around forced-scrolling segments, and noises that make the use of earmuffs a necessary precaution. But what were you expecting from the early 40's? Audio fidelity?
