92The Initial Champion Battle Against Steven Stone in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire.
Steven is, in my opinion, the best Champion. I lost to him like 7 times before realizing his Claydol gave me the perfect opportunity to setup. Also, this is the only battle Giga Impact was used, which made an opening for my Blaziken to strike at Metagross. Steven also has the BEST Champion music, and it's probably still my favorite battle theme in the franchise to date. (Followed closely by Zinnia)
Overall, this battle was tough. Going from a Champion like Diantha to a Champion like Steven makes me question her character even more. Steven is the Champion that saved Gen 6, in my opinion. He and Cynthia are prime examples of how Champions should be.
His team also reflects his character better than any other. He's interested in rare stones (the fossils), relics (Claydol), specializes in Steel-types (the last 3), and his team reflects that.
But enough praise to Steven. Let's just hope future Champions can hold a candle to Champions like Steven and Cynthia.
For special characters I always like to go all in for the template I'm using. Steven was hard to come up with, though. In the end, I think his turned out as one of my best two so far. The first time I've dabbled in animated templates, even if it was just a shine effect. Hoping to improve moving forward.
