Championship Sprint was released in 1986 as a follow up to Super Sprint. The main difference was that the cabinet only supported two players. This was to decrease the cost of the machine and to fit it into smaller areas. Size was always a concern for arcade vendors, as they did not always have room for the large machines. Championship Sprint took all excitement and action of the previous version, keeping the best tracks, adding new ones and having a new car upgrade. Championship Sprint was the last sprint game to be released. There has been talk about releasing a new 3D version but all of the mock-ups that were created did not have the same appeal. The best part about the sprint games are that all the users can see 100% of track all the time and immediately see their current position in reference to all the other racers.

Midway Arcade Treasures 2 is the second collection of classic arcade games published by Midway for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox. This compilation includes 20 games that were not in the 2003 release of Midway Arcade Treasures or the 2005 release of Midway Arcade Treasures 3.

The game plays similar on all three consoles; however, the Xbox version has the exclusive ability to upload scores to an online scoreboard. The special features on each version of the game are the same. These include game histories, developer interviews, and other documents.
