Chaos and Causality | Elden Ring
The greatest part of Fromsoftware's invasion mechanic, imo, is that it can create chaos in a game that is mostly devoid of random actions. By its very nature pvp has opponents that can change their actions and with invasions you can have many unexpected variables. Even when you can predict many opponent actions there's still a need for both sides to constantly adapt.
