How to check a gas mask or respirator for faults and damage that could lead to the failure of the mask.
I was asked in a comment if I could do a video on how to check over a mask for flaws and damages that could lead to the mask being compromised in a situation where it would be needed.
This is only really possible if you are buying the mask from an army surplus store, if you are buying the mask online, and there are not photographs of the individual mask, you will not be able to check before buying.

Checking the mask is rather straightforward, check the inner and outer rubber of the mask for UV damage or dry rot. Then check the straps are in good condition and all attached. Check the inhale and exhale valves for damage as well as the voice diaphragm if one is present. Lastly check the lenses to make sure there are no cracks or other damage.
Once you have checked over the mask, you can purchase it if everything appears to be in good condition.
