Chelsea News: Havertz & Werner ANGRY With Chelsea Defending! Chelsea STILL Interested in Donnarumma?
Kai Havertz & Timo Werner both have spoken out about Chelsea's recent defending and defensive record in the Premier League while multiple news reports continue to link Gianluigi Donnarumma to Chelsea FC.
Chelsea decided to sign a new goalkeeper after seeing Kepa struggle last season. And Mendy has made a solid start to life at Stamford Bridge in the time since, helping the Blues pick up seven points from their first four matches. According to CalcioMercato, however, Chelsea actually explored signing Donnarumma instead during the summer transfer window. It’s claimed they retain an interest in the 21-year-old amid uncertainty over the Italian’s future, with the player yet to pen a contract extension. Donnarumma’s current deal at the San Siro expires at the end of the campaign. - The Express
Werner + Havertz quotes,
Chelsea were two goals to the good at Stamford Bridge, but were pegged back to 2-2 with Southampton's second goal a mistake between Kurt Zouma and Kepa Arrizabalaga. Havertz had Chelsea back in front, but Jannik Vestergaard's injury-time goal sealed a late draw for the Saints - the second 3-3 draw in three Premier League games for Frank Lampard's men.
Havertz shouldered the blame for Saints' first goal, admitting losing possession for Danny Ings' smart finish "changed the game". "We're very frustrated about the result," Havertz told Chelsea's official club website.

"In the end think it’s not the offence that wins titles. In Germany we always say defence wins titles. I think that’s true. "When we concede so many goals in every game then it’s hard to win games but in the end also to win titles. "I think we have to work in it because six goals in three games is too much. I think we have to be better in this." Yet Havertz has insisted Chelsea must accept responsibility collectively, telling the club’s official website: “We have to take responsibility for that. “We have 11 players on the pitch and everybody has to work hard so we don’t concede goals like this.
