Goalkeeper Petr Cech has been named in Chelsea's Premier League squad - despite having retired from playing at the end of the 2018-19 season. The 38-year-old, who is the club's technical and performance adviser, was added as "emergency cover".
Cech spent 11 years as a player at Stamford Bridge, winning 13 trophies, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League. He last played for the Blues in the 3-1 win over Sunderland in May 2015, before joining London rivals Arsenal. - BBC
Frank Lampard stepped in to turn down an approach from Everton for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma in the summer transfer window, according to reports. Despite the arrival of veteran Thiago Silva, Zouma has been a mainstay in the Blues defence this season. The Frenchman has started four of Chelsea’s five Premier League games, scoring two goals in the process.

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger didn’t go on loan this autumn because he “didn’t want to pack it all in” at Chelsea following his exclusion from successive match day squads by Frank Lampard, Raphael Honigstein can reveal. Speaking exclusively to The Athletic after Germany’s 3-3 draw with Switzerland in Cologne, the Chelsea centre–back reiterated his desire to win back his place and explained that he didn’t feel as if the club had been actively pushing him out of the door this summer. - The Athletic
