Just a test run on Mirillis Action, captured at 90% quality. Not including games, this is the first piece of software I have ever bought. Tbh, I normally don't have the kind of money to throw at commercial software, but this one simply deserves it. I have tried many recording tools and Action is the only one that surpasses Nvidia Shadowplay from my POV. Here's a list of advantages of this tool:
- Ability of manipulate NVENC to capture videos WITHOUT any noticeable performance drop. This means if you have a Nvidia GPU, you can output your gameplay recording at full HD@60fps. Aside from Action and Shadowplay, no recording tool I have tried could do this on a relatively cheap card like the 750Ti. Even the highly favored OBS reduces my framerate to 40-45 while playing Nepnep, which is something totally unacceptable for someone who prioritizes framerate like myself.
- Very little CPU usage compared to OBS or ZDSoft Screen Recorder, therefore no noticeable performance drop while capturing.
- High quality video capture with acceptable video size, unlike shitty Fraps or Playclaw.
- Support h264 in mp4 container output, which is highly compatible with Youtube. So far I haven't gotten any video of this format getting rejected by Youtube like when I uploaded AVI.
- No video size limitation regardless of Windows version. This is unlike Shadowplay, which splits your video every 3.8GB if you are not using Windows 8 or later. With Action you will be able to record for hours without worrying about unwanted splitting.
- Ability to bypass all application overlays that may hinder you while capturing, such as mouse cursor, Steam's FPS counter or Skype's notifications. This means you can freely chat with your friends while playing and it will not get recorded at all.
- Games do not need to be in full-screen mode for Action to work, unlike with Shadowplay.
- Compatible with more games and software than ANY recording tool I have ever tried (it even works with PCSX2 and Media Play Classic). With Shadowplay I cannot use game mode to capture Nepnep and have to use Desktop mode, which eliminates the ability to bypass application overlays that I mentioned above.
- Very easy to set up, and works flawlessly with any resolution. This is contrary to OBS, in which you have to manually set up your resolution every time you switch to a game with different resolution or your recording will have shitty window positioning, cropping or redundant black bars. This is very important as I play a wide range of games, from retro to modern ones, and it's simply annoying having to manually change the resolution for different games.
- Support upscaling, which is something you can't do with OBS. Some games I play have shitty resolution such as 1024x576 or 512x384, which will get downscaled into 480p and 360p if I just upload them to Youtube like that (and I hate to re-encode every video I record). With Action you can force your video at any desired standard resolution with just a few clicks, which is great for Youtubers.
- Best FPS counter overlay that you won't find anywhere else. Seriously, fuck Valve with their crappy tiny FPS counter.

You can try your luck torrenting 1.25.1 and above (older versions will crash if you use the latest Nvidia Geforce drivers, starting from the first driver that supports The Witcher 3) if you want. But if you like it, you may considering buying it like I did. Aside from any possible virus/trojan threat (some loaders have a 30/56 red warning rate on virustotal), legit copies also boot a lot faster than trial or bootlegged versions, and save you from troubles any time Nvidia update their drivers and fuck up this app, because newer versions of Action will not be available any time soon for pirates. There are two options to choose: wait for summer or winter sale on Steam and buy the commercial version, or buy multiple licenses of the home version with a trusty friend/relative, which will save you a lot of money compared to buying a single license.

That's all I can think of for now. I'll update more to this post if I happen to figure out anything else to list.
