Recap: Taking a detour from Chronopolis, Serge visits Guldove, where Korcha, Orcha, and Steena get to meet their alternate selves. Orlha joins the party as promised. Her twin sister Tia is dying of a mysterious illness in the Guldove of the other timeline. She awakens briefly as Orlha visits her, before passing away.

Back in Chronopolis, they learn that FATE, the main computer of Chronopolis, has been observing the two timelines and manipulating them via the Record of Fate. FATE was created from the Mother Brain prototype in Geno Demo. FATE's goal was to prevent events in El Nido from influencing the future in a way that would change the course of history and erase its existence. Since the formation of the Dead Sea 10 years ago, FATE has been unable to intervene directly in world 01.

Serge's biometric data gets him into the core of Chronopolis, where the Frozen Flame is enshrined. Lynx is waiting inside, and he explains that the Frozen Flame is the preserved essence of Lavos, and that he is the human incarnation of FATE. After Serge has been attacked by a panther demon 14 years ago, Wazuki and Miguel had been sailing toward Marbule to see the sage there, but due to a storm they ended up at Chronopolis instead. The Frozen Flame was used to heal Serge, while also imprinting him as the Arbiter of Time, which is why his body was needed to access the flame.

Inside FATE, there was a standalone circuit designed to start a rebellion, keeping itself hidden from the rest of the system. The circuit, named Prometheus, is conscious, and Lynx brings it out to speak with Serge. Prometheus calls for an end to the enmity between FATE and the Dragons, before FATE eliminates him. Lynx assumes the form of FATE at full strength, and starts a fight.

Lynx appears to have been defeated, and Kid, who had been asleep on the floor this whole time, wakes up as his hold over her breaks. She quickly realizes where she is and heads toward the flame. Harle, who had been missing for some time, suddenly shows up and warns Kid away from touching the flame, saying it may destroy everything including her. While this is happening, the six dragons awaken to the knowledge the FATE has fallen, and choose this as their moment to take revenge on mankind for a million years of suffering. Sky Dragon Isle rises out of the sea and into the air, turning into a giant floating tower.

Kid tells this part better than I can summarize: "In the year 2400, during a counter-time experiment, the Flame goes out of control... This causes the dimensions to rip apart, resultin' in the Time Crash. Engulfed in an enormous dimensional vortex, Chronopolis was hurled tun thousand years back in time. Perhaps it was the awakenin' Lavos who pulled the Frozen Flame back through time to it. Maybe so that Lavos, who saw the possibility that some young adventurers might destroy it, could create a backup plan. But that ain't all... At the same time, another city from a different dimension's future, was also thrown back in time. Dinopolis... The future city of the Reptites -- Azala's descendents, who had evolved more closely with the planet. Just as Lavos, in an attempt to save itself, summoned Chronopolis from the distant future... Perhaps our planet beckoned Dinopolis into the past... maybe as a measure against Chronopolis and humanity. It wasn't the Dragon Gods who sealed up the Frozen Flame! It was FATE, which used the Flame's power to divide and seal the Dragons in slumber! And now that FATE has been defeated, the Dragons will join together again to start their revenge!"

Harle bids Serge adieu, goes to the center of the Frozen Flame, and does something that results in Kid falling into a coma. She's brought to Hermit's Hideaway to be looked after by Radius, while the larger party regroups and makes plans for their next move.
