Chrono Trigger Part 10: The TPK or, Why The older Save Systems Sucked - Old Men Gaming
When last we left our heroes, they had just reunited Frog with the Masamune, and were preparing to go and deal with Magus.
Twice.
The first time, the party travels to the end of time to teach Frog magic. As the party now consists of two water magic heroes, Marle, the primary healer, is left behind for Lucca's fire magic.
After a long cutscene in which we see more of Frog's past as a not-frog, the party travels through the Magic Cave and arrives at Magus's Lair.
They proceed in, discover a mostly empty castle, then find out they have to fight all the henchman, and 100 other minions. They get about as far as the first henchman, Flea, before two things happen. First, Flea is not a bass player, so darn. Second, the lack of a solid healer leads to a TPK. In prior boss battles, there has been a convenient save spot just prior. When last we left our heroes, they had just reunited Frog with the Masamune, and were preparing to go and deal with Magus.
This time, the party keeps Marle and tries to find better armor for Frog. We leave them as they are ready to enter Magus's Lair.
So maybe next time, the party will do more than go from Frog's hous to the big bad's lair....
