You never need kill this one, because game will still continued. But its some fun challenge try beat it.

Its hardest boss in Chrono Trigger, but its optional. At my levels, only Ayla survive alive his fire attack using "silvererng accecory" which give more max HP MAX. Robo & Crono both will die with single hit. Iron orb never kill anyone, but its make some dangerous situations with Ayla.

There might be a lot easier or cheaper way beat this one. My strategy was just use strong Physical Attacks, revive and use full tonics (500HP). Only Ayla need use full tonics, because she was only who can survive alive those fire balls, but low levels like this, its will requires use silverearring increase max HP.

This not was easy task. I die/reset few times attempted beat that. That was some fun real challenge. Few more level ups might make it little bit easier. Then your party members never die instant hit.
