Churn (original song)
So this song hit me out of nowhere, as three days ago, I didn't have ANY of the music or lyrics for this conceived. Stranger still is the unusual time changes it has. The chorus (I THINK I'd call it a chorus...) changes from the standard 4/4 (that's four quarter notes per measure) to alternating between 5/8 (five eighth notes per measure) and 6/8. OR, linked together you could call it 11/8. Then the ending section just switches fully to 6/8. I tried to think of what could have influenced me to use these odd time signatures... and then it hit me: The only thing I've heard recently with five beats per measure is Nobuo Uematsu's "Cinco de Chocobo," from the Final Fantasy VII soundtrack! Maybe all the time I spent riding around on chocobos in that game made the rhythm of that theme subliminally rub off on me a bit, haha.
