CiB Game Boy Theater - Castlevania Adventure and Dr. Franken (Episode 9)
0The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
Castlevania Adventure was the first handheld Castlevania game, and is easily in the running for... worst Castlevania game. Just... look at it. Look at how fast you walk. Look at the frames per second. It's an ambitious game for the early Game Boy, but do you really want to PLAY this? Maybe it was great back then, but it has not aged well. Bonus points for being the sl-oooow-est walk cycle in history.
Dr. Franken for SNES is not great by any means, but it's a standard, silly platformer, so you can at least play it a little.
THIS is a 'where do I go' game. Don't you just LOVE those. Imagine playing this game without a FAQ. I'm sure that you could beat it in 10-15 minutes if you knew exactly where you were going, but do you -really- want to know where you are going? I would, in all honesty, rather... mow the grass... no, plant the grass, and watch it grow, than play this game.
