
CiB Game Boy Theater - Killer Instinct and Mortal Kombat 2 (Episode 7)
The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
Sometimes, there is a game that has no right to be on a handheld, and yet, it's pretty good - that game is Killer Instinct. KI for the SNES was a pretty ground-breaking game in terms of speed and graphics - and the Game Boy port actually holds up really well. I would even go as far to call it playable. Really great job by the developers to port this over --- unlike ---
Wow. Mortal Kombat 2 on the Game Boy, huh? I mean, just look at it. 2 frames per second, drab, 3 second matches, now -this- is a bad port job. I specifically remember, by the way, being impressed with this (or MK1, one of the two) when it first came out. Yikes.... enjoy!
