CiB Game Boy Theater - PageMaster and Dragon's Lair: The Legend (Episode 11)
1The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
PageMaster. You know, that early 90's animated film that you absolutely remember. It's been a theme - games on the Game Boy start you out with no prior knowledge, on really tough levels, or in places that you don't know where to go.
I -know- where to go here - down, but imagine if a platformer started out as DOWNWARD MOVING auto-scroller. Honestly, amazing. Can't even get past the first level, even as an adult. I am just going to assume the entire game is... this. Cool.
Dragon's Lair: The Legend is -not- what I expected. In fact, it's a bit more of an actual video game than I expected. I first thought it was going to be a port of the NES game - and although that would've been a little worse, this is still pret-tay, pret-tay bad. I couldn't possibly imagine getting through this entire game, even though, in all fairness, it is somewhat playable. At least, you know, compared to 75% of what we've seen so far. NEXT!
