First install Tasksel in Raspbian

Open terminal
sudo apt-get install tasksel
sudo tasksel

Press space to select Cinnamon
Return

sudo update-alternatives --config x-session-manager
Press the number for cinnamon

i've changed the GUI to Cinnamon using tasksel on Raspbian - works okay'ish. so if anyone's interested: after adding Cinnamon in tasksel & waiting for it to finish install , unlike in Ubuntu you need to change the startup x-session manager using: sudo update-alternatives --config x-session-manager and choosing the right number for Cinnamon. after a reboot, it's not possible to change/configure the wifi network you were connected to before. i suspect this is because of Raspbian network connections manager still running. language layout selector doesn't seem to work for me as well, but other then that - looking goo
