Citadel has been formally named in the DOJ probe into short sellers and their block trades... but what happens next?
Will citadel be forced to close their shorts? or keep their synthetic shorts as evidence of their wrongdoing? And will people actually go to jail? or just be issued small fines again?
I think the DOJ will have all of the evidence they need from the system logs/transaction logs/audit trails to prove how many synthetics were created, when, by who, and where they are now.
Therefore, Citadel will likely be forced to cover their synthetics ASAP while the DOJ performs a further investigation into exactly who created them and who gave that authority and who approved that decision.
