Citroën C4 Robot in 3:38.417
3seen this game done at ESA and wanted to give it a shot myself. First time today I've played this and spent the afternoon learning the handling model and getting a somewhat clean run. The ingame timer is broken, so I don't know if I did my manual retime correctly, so I might go back and change the exact time later depending on what the speedrun moderator says
Despite this being a cheap advertisment game that I just picked up as a joke, I was surprised to find out that (aside from the lack on content and the broken timer) this is actually a very well put together racing game. The driving physics feel pretty good and the mechanics are surprisingly in-depth and open up a lot of room for a high skill ceiling. Imo this would've had a lot of potential to be expanded to a full game if there was more to do than do a single 2 lap race. There's some spots with wonky collision and sometimes it feels a bit unreliable with how quickly you can get inputs in when it comes to jumping in and out of the transform animation (had many runs die to getting stuck on the jumps in the tunnel), but overall these are pretty minor and easily avoidable hurdles and this game way exceeded my expectations.
I'm pretty happy with this run, though I reckon if I grinded this more I could probably improve by another 2-3 seconds, but I'm pretty satisfied for one afternoon of playing this. Probably the weakest spot in both laps is the righthander into the tunnel towards the end of the lap, you can get a very nice corner there if you release the accelerator a bit more, but unfortunately that's a spot where the car tends to understeer a lot and I misjudged my speed on both laps. That being said though that outcome with that wallbonk is probably not the worst approach to this corner and if I didn't know better I'd even say that this probably looks intended so hey whatever
