City Minutes: Britain and Ireland
21,504By far, the biggest MVPs of the British Empire were their Architects. So let's take a look at four cities from Britain and Ireland to see how the empire redefined its cities and subsequently set the model for modern urbanism! Look, what I'm trying to say is that they did cool stuff and now they look real nice.
FUN TIMES WITH PROBLEMATIC HISTORICAL NOMENCLATURE: The term "British Isles" is strongly contested by Academics in particular and most Irish in general, as it suggests (rather imperially) that Ireland belongs to Britain. I myself am guilty of this usage in the past, I own that mistake, and I'll avoid it in the future. Accordingly, this video is titled "Britain and Ireland" and the video thumbnail bears the simple moniker of "The Isles"... with the added benefit that the single-line formatting makes it fit neatly on top of the horizontal line in St George's cross and it looks beautifully sharp, but that's just my undying commitment to aesthetics in action.
