Civilization III: Me conquering the world (summary replay)
I recorded this with camptasia and running the game via steam on my windows vista HP laptop. But the sound is frustrating. Camtasia somehow have chosen to record the sound from my microphone instead of just recording "the sound inside the computer" (that is just record the sound as it is on the computer, and not through my microphone). \n\nI could never get camtasia not to include the microphone for some reason. If i stopped the embedded microphone in vista then no sound would be recorded. Prior trial versions of camtasia ive used on other laptops didnt have the same propblem - but those laptops didnt have microphones or windows vista. So im just frustrated because i cant find a solution :-(\n\nBut anyway: i played as the vikings in an easy difficulty because i wanted a "short" game (if you consider 15 hours short). I usually start by making as many cities as possible. Spreading as fast as i can on the continent until i find another civilization. I will make many cities near the other civilization in order to build a sort of barrier, so they will not send settlers into my land and make cities in between my cities (i really hate that). \n\nI will keep the peace until i get powerfull units. I wait until i am technologically supirior to a nabour civilization - this is sometimes only when i get gunpowder units, and sometimes before that. And then i conquer the world. One civilization after the other. \n\nI am one of the few who loved civilization 3 over the other four. This are because of a few irrational reasons. \n* In civ3 the game dosent end suddenly because of some stupid reason like "dominance victory" - I WANT TO FINISH HIM!!! to quote mortal combat. I want to conquer the world and destroy every single enemy unit.\n* The artillery works so well in civ3. I can use it to almost destroy a city and kill the population there. I destroy large areas from a distant and hurt the enemy units there. \n* In civ3 i can stack units and one hit to them will not kill them all. \n* In civ3 i can, when the time comes, have many conscripts from all of my cities. I love that. That you can get a peoples army who can overwhelm the enemy in pure numbers if going gets tough. \n\nThat was why i think civ3 was the best civ. I know most people disagree with me on that. \n\n \nAnd back to this game: yes i know i didnt get a good score. But i just find it hard to conquer the world in time on harder difficulties. \nI played as the vikings, because im from scandinavia my self. But i also play the germans a lot because their specialities of economy or technology (various from sequal to sequal) i find to be the best things for my civilization.\n\nPS: one thing i still dont understand. I played this game in/through steam. Steam has noted down that i used 12 hours on this game. The game has noted down that i have used 15 hours. I really dont get it.
