In this series, I will be playing the Into the Renaissance Scenario to get the achievements.

In this episode, I finished Spain off and start preparing for an attack against France. Since my navy is so close to Italy, I decided to conquer some hostile city states which are either at war with me (allied with Spain) or angry with me because they were once allies with France. This is different in the Brave New World expansion, city states do not get "angry" because they were allied with an enemy and were at war with you. Usually after making peace, the relations go back to neutral, but in this case, no. AIs will always have more gold per turn than you, and trying to ally long-term with city states is impossible in this scenario on high difficulties.
