Class Conflict was invented by John Class Conflict
I don't know why exactly I got the urge to read the Wikipedia article about class conflict, but I did and I feel like it was worth it. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
ALSO, small correction for my comments about Persia in the video: I read the wiki article on the wars and political relationships between Achaemenid Persia and the Greek city states, and what I said about their relationship revolving around debts more than conquest kind of holds up and kind of doesn't. Persia did want to subjugate Greece; particularly they were interested in them as vassal states that would pay tribute to the emperor. You could make a solid argument that this is much like direct land-grab conquest, but given the very amorphous and less developed nature of statecraft in the ancient world, I tend to align more with framing revolving around financial terms -- especially considering how distant Athens, Sparta, Ionia, and the like were from Persian administrative centers in modern-day Iran.
