Here is Classic WoW being played after the system SSD it's played from was wiped live. I thought WoW would corrupt textures or fail in some amusing way that would be good for for a few-minute video, but... it just kept going! So if your hard drive were to fail in the middle of Ragnaros, you might be fine :p

I issued blkdiscard to my NVMe SSD which trims the entire drive and wipes out all data. Due to the wonders of Linux and WoW's tech that allows background downloading of data, it was as if nothing happened aside from a little more stuttering and some audio playback being delayed. I show the end of dmesg in Terminal to see errors.

I've tried doing other things with a wiped drive just to see how far I could get in the past, and normally GNOME would fail to start programs and eventually crash to black, or I'd get kicked back to the log-in screen. WoW continuing to work through Wine and DXVK is amazing!

3:00 - Terminal crashes when I try to re-size it by pushing it to the left-side
6:52 - Tried running uname and date commands; uname worked but not date; I might have ran uname earlier in the day unrelated to the video but definitely not date
8:15 - 9:27 - Tried to find a character on a different realm and I guess my characters were merged to other realms or something a while back; nothing notable happens in the video
