It's one huuuuge ship purging today!
Another new kind of UFO landed, and it was a full-on Mother f-ing Battleship! Every kind of hard fecker was in it, including a frickin' Sectopod. This peeved me somewhat, as it wasn't listed as one of the life forms on the ship - this might be because it's a robot, but cyber discs were listed?

I also brought my 'B-Team', as I'm trying to level up some back-up folks if the worst happens to one of my primary squad.

Despite these drawbacks, the whole squad survived right until only the Ethereal was left, on 1 hit point...
I could have gotten through this mission, first-time, blind playthrough, with no losses. I also had an Arc Thrower, and had NEVER had such a good opportunity to capture an Ethereal.
One could claim I was 'greedy', but really it was just ignorant. Our Assault marine CATO SICARIUS took 8 damage to the face when he was next to the Ethereal in no cover. Given the circumstances in which he was damaged, I figured this was its maximum non-crit damage. The marine carrying the arc thrower had 10hp, and cover to hunker down in and thus not be critted. This would allow him into range, and capture the ethereal next turn (1hp + improved arc thrower for maximum damage).
...turns out the ethereals attack can hit for 10 damage. It hit an exposed soldier wearing ghost armour for 8 (but this is because he had natural defence). It hit the hunkered one for 10 damage.. he died.

We still promptly one the mission - but from being guaranteed a flawless first-time run, with a B-Squad, Blind PLUS an Ethereal capture... to neither of those things, did leave a bitter aftertaste.
