With the modern DOOM game campaigns completed, it's onto the next choice by the community for Monday content; which was Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition!
From reading up a bit on DS community comments, I went for PTDE + Gfx mods, rather than the remaster, (also partly as I don't own the remaster and I'm not paying £40 for slightly brighter lighting and 60fps).
First, it was time to create our 'hero'. Sir Diesalot, (fitting name) was suggested - and I went for a thief. The high Dexterity, and accompanying quick reactions, made the transition from super fast-paced and reactive combat of Hollow Knight to the comparatively stodgy Dark Souls. The Master Key gift was also a nice perk.
Once we were into the game, it was off to a flying start! I got through the entire Northern Undead Asylum, including the Demon of the Asylum, WITHOUT DYING! Felt like my experience with hard games had given me an edge. I was wrong...
Once I discovered the graveyard a short distance from a starting campfire (Firelink Shrine?), a bunch of skeletons who were waaaaay harder than the zombies splattered me everywhere for an hour.
I realised I needed to head towards this high-up town (Undead Burg?), with more manageable zombies. Still died a lot, but was able to survive long enough to make progress and level up. Other highlights included 2 really hard knight-like characters; and some HUGE dragon landed on a bridge, although I noped the fuck out of there pretty damn quick.
Lost my souls and progress numerous times, but had a blast and am looking forward to the next show.
