Since 1979 Hong Kong Ballet has evolved into a vibrant performing arts organisation and an internationally recognised world-class institution that represents Hong Kong’s unique character. It has continued to evolve under Executor Director Ms. Heidi Lee and Artistic Director Mr. Septime Webre, former Artistic Director of The Washington Ballet, who joined the Company in July 2017. In 2021, Hong Kong Ballet launched its first crowdfunding campaign in support of its Nutcracker production, enabling members of the public to become producers and underwrite costumes or key scenes. Kicking off 2023, the company celebrated a successful tour in the U.S., with Romeo + Juliet performances in New York and down the eastern seaboard. It will be hosting the renowned American Ballet Theatre Studio Company at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, featuring a new production of Carmina Burana in collaboration with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as premiering Coco Chanel: the Life of a Fashion Icon. Our speakers will share updates of Hong Kong Ballet and their insights on the city’s arts development in this special luncheon event moderated by FCC Second Vice President Tim Huxley.
