CMiG | So you can Explode my Joy another day ... or how...
or How RockStar still remembers the Hot coffee scandal in Gta 3 : San Andreas ... and Jokes about it
Or how one game made M$ cave-in to add a HDD install
The very first thing you do in This game add-on is: a Black guy does a optional minigame to fuck...
All of those Add-ons to GTA 4 felt like there where cut and remade as DLC ... not to mention the exclusive deal that M$ had at that time to fuck with Sony ... making this game better looking on theirs platform and theirs console will get those add-ons first ...
The bad thing was :
After 12 months PC got theirs share in this not optimised game with a DRM that worked only for a year ... after that the DRM did not worked no more ... you where forced to patch this game or play with a crack ... nice way of screwing PC customers ...
Xbox360 became a test platform and this game was a test for theirs new "rage" engine that had awful streaming problems and popins from object and textures ... not to mention low FPS if there where more cars on screen ... later on xbox360 got a patch that degraded theirs superiority at the cost of 720p theirs LOD was cranked below zero to even have stable frame rates with 7 vehicles on screen... PS3 played on lower resolution but with higher LOD ... the problems of streaming this game from DVD and its exclusivity became such a joke with many MEME gifs that M$ caved in and... added a HDD install (aka create a virtual Disc Image) for 360 , killing to birds with one stone (BenQ DVD drivers had slow reading speeds {now they have ultra fast Liteons , before they had Hitachis but those had magnet problems and could scratch your discs} and adding faster loading with no object/texture pop-ups from ps3 )
The good thing was :
PS3 after this shit blew over got an Complete Edition on one BD... with all engine problems ironed out ... that was later ported to PC (Xbox360 version was the same GTAIV disc but with a code to download DLC)
so yeah as of now i am playing this game ... finished those addons in 2010 but never had the chance to finish the main game ... so from a version that can look ultra realistic with Icehancer on PC and owning a PC that can run 2016 games on Ultra ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGuyZIaNEag thats how GTAIV looks on PC with mods) .... i play the ps3 version ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HR0ZpcSWls and it looks like this , it has this soft blur filter with an cartoon filter making all look like a comicbook , xbox360 version is the oppostie - it has a shapennig filter with no watter colurs/comicbook effects , but you can fix this on PS3 by turning your sharpness on your TVS )...
let just say the things you had to do to run the normal DVD physical store retail version and those patches and clients in the background ... to make this game START .... was facepalming ... that kinda made me look on those DVD and said "screw it lets download a full repack"... not only it worked better but yeah ... it makes you think, how companies making games threat theirs paying customers... like a third class citizen that has to jump though hoops ... even now in 2016 they add a DRM Denuvo that cripples the game performance just to protect it ... alienating the PC crowd ... maybe in x years i will replay the PC version to see the ultra realistic version of GTA 4 ... but now i just want to play it like it was designed
So what is your opinion about GTAIV vs GTAV thing ... GTA 4 was way better, it was not about graphics, it was about all little things in it... like GTAV was a downgrade in gameplay mechnics at the cost of graphics see this to see my point : www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLM_j5Hk30A
