Testing my recently purchased CMMG .22LR conversion kit with included proprietary 25rnd mags.

Insight and thoughts:
The kit is super easy to install (simple BCG and mag swap), and works pretty well. Until the springs settle in, I recommend filling the 25rnd mags with just 15 rounds. Even at 20 rounds like in this video, the springs are still a bit too strong and cause occasional failures, but more commonly the bolt spring's stiffness seems to cause failures to cycle the hammer, requiring manual cycling, losing a round in the process. This only happened 3 times in the video. Could be the ammo isn't loaded hot enough, too.

Rifle details
(to aid in comparing your possible performance):
My particular rifle has a 16" 1:8 twist, chambered for 5.56x45mm NATO, and carbine length gas system. Buffer is whatever the mil spec weight is (don't recall the crazy naming system). Barrel is not chrome lined, but does have chrome added to the alloy. Ammo used deviates a bit from CMMG's recommend ammo (recommended is 36gr, round nosed, copper jacket). I'm using Winchester 36gr, hollowpoint, copper jacket, which could be the reason for some failures.

Conclusion:
The kit is worth picking up, especially if you get it during a sale like I did (I saved $80). I can't comment on the CA-compliant 10rnd mags, as I didn't buy that kit.

As long as you stay close to CMMG's recommend ammo, and don't fully load your mags until the springs wear in, this kit is actually really impressive, as it's like being able to run your 5.56, but also having a 10/22 in your pocket that's the size of a BCG and however many mags you wish to carry.

What was really satisfying was being able to put a couple hundred rounds through my rifle and NOT break the bank! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE shooting out to 450 yards or more with 5.56 ammo, but it gets expensive. It's nice to know I can now shoot well over 300 rounds for about $15. Coupled with 24/7/365 access to the shooting facility for just $50/year, I'm living in the poor marksman's paradise!

10/10, would recommend this product!
